Former Cerritos College women’s water polo assistant coach Brenda Villa just completed competing in her fourth Olympics. Serving as the team’s captain since 2005, she added a gold medal to her two silver medals and one bronze medal after the team left London with the title. Coaching with the Falcons from 2005-09, she helped the team win their first South Coast Conference championships (2007) and first state championships (2008) in school history. In her playing career, Villa was named the Female Water Polo Player of the Decade by FINA Aquatics World Magazine, has won two World Championships (2003 & 2007), two Pan American Games Championships (2003 & 2007), and an NCAA National Championship (with Stanford University in 2002) and was named the NCAA Division I Water Polo Player of the Year (2001).
