Locked in an intense battle that had a playoff feel to it, the Cerritos College men's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with rival Long Beach City College on Tuesday. The Falcons (6-2-2, 0-0-1), who are ranked #20 in the state, extended their shutout streak to three straight games and held the #3-ranked Vikings (9-1-1, 0-0-1) without a goal for the first time this year. Cerritos will travel to face #18-ranked Pasadena City College on Friday for a 4:00 p.m. game.

Both teams were able to hold off any chances of high percentage scoring shots throughout the game. Cerritos goalkeeper Griffin Welch (Long Beach Poly HS) made all five saves on the day, which included two attempts from Asael Sales. However, none of them were difficult saves, thanks in part to the tight defense displayed by the Falcons.

For Cerritos, Halmar Carranza (Lakewood HS) had the best scoring chances of anyone in the game, as he was turned away twice in the 55th minute, with the second shot deflecting off the crossbar after LBCC's Abraham Ramirez deflected the ball away.
