The Cerritos College men's tennis team improved to 15-3 overall and 4-0 in South Coast Conference play with their 9-0 win over visiting El Camino College on Tuesday. The Falcons will now host Amherst (MA) College, a Division II program, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lord Jeffs are the defending NCAA Division II champions and will be making a West Coast trip that includes 12 matches with a split squad over a six-day period. They will also take on Glendale College and San Diego Mesa College, two teams the Falcons have already faced this year.

In the win over the Warriors, Cerritos lost just five total games in doubles play and captured all six singles matches in straight sets. Freshmen Henry Ayesiga (Malezi School, Kenya) and Mark Antoniuk (W. 124 School, Russia) each won the first set of their singles matches by 6-2 scores. But in the second set, they were both pushed and came away with 7-5 decisions in the #3 and #4 matches, respectively.

At the top of the ladder, sophomore Amadi Kagoma (Malezi School, Kenya) recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win, while freshman Antonio Torrebella-Clark (Cypress HS) shut out Whitney Reed, 6-0, 6-0. The duo also won their #1 doubles match by an 8-3 score. Freshman Mathieu David (Nimes, France) also shut out his opponent, 6-0, 6-0 in the #6 match, with freshman Agustin Lombardi (E.S.O.S., Argentina) posting a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
