For the second day in a row, the Cerritos College women's tennis team picked up a win. The Falcons (2-4) defeated visiting Santa Monica College, 6-1 in Friday, with several players earning their first collegiate win in singles action. The team will now host El Camino College at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in a South Coast Conference match.

Helping the team with the win were freshman Selene Bayardo (Long Beach Millikan HS) and Evelyn Rodriguez Toro (Compton HS), who each earned their first wins of the season in singles play. Bayardo, playing in the #4 position, was extended to a tie-breaker and came back after losing the first set, 2-6, 6-2, 10-5. As for Rodriguez Toro, she held off Sophia Albinate in the #5 position and posted a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win. Not losing a point, freshman Yesenia Palacios (Long Beach Wilson HS) posted a 6-0, 6-0 win, with the top of the ladder seeing sophomore Moa Lindström (Dragonskolan Elitidrottgymnasium, Sweden) earn a tough 6-2, 7-5 win over Fanny Hurling.

Doubles went well for the Falcons, as they dropped just three games in the two matches. Neither team had six players, so there was no #6 singles or #3 doubles match played. Lindstrom and freshman Alba Gonzalez (Colegio Madre Guadalupe, Venezuela) posted an 8-1 win, with Palacios and Bayardo earning a solid 8-2 victory.
