The Cerritos College men's tennis doubles team of Bruno Duarte and Victor Castro were one win away from becoming the first players to win a title at the ITA Oracle Cup. At Berry College in Rome, GA on Saturday, the two squared off against Marcus Walters and Jorge Martinez of Tyler (TX) Community College in the national championship match of the ITA Oracle Cup. The Falcon pair, unseeded in the tournament, pulled off an upset in the semifinals, as they defeated the #1-ranked team in straight sets to reach the championships.

However, the duo came up short in the championships, as the Texas pair, who also faced each other in the singles championships, recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win over Duarte and Castro. The two qualified for the national tournament after winning ITA Regional Championship the weekend prior. The two opened with a straight set win over the #4-seeded doubles team before their 7-6 (3), 6-4 win over top-ranked Tim Chen and Kentaro Mizushima of ASA College Miami.

In singles play, incoming freshman Kent Hunter came in third place when he defeated Chen, 6-3, 6-4 in the third place match. Hunter, who was seeded third after winning the regional title, opened with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Duro Opacic of Seward (FL) County College. In the semi-finals, Hunter was defeated by Tyler College's Martinez, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 before his third place win.

On the women's side, the doubles team of Petra Such and Lisa Suzuki took sixth place after they also won the regional championship. They opened with a 4-6, 2-6 loss to Hana Kvapilova and Ceire Mullins of Hillsborough (FL) Community College and followed that with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast College's Bianca Buie and Margarita Lopareva. In the fifth place match, the two dropped a 7-6 (0), 3-0 (retired) decision due to an injury to the pair of Celia Morel and Julia Tozzi Abraham Baldwin Agricultural (GA) College (ABAC).
