On Wednesday, the Cerritos College men's water polo team got off to a quick start in their South Coast Conference opener, as they defeated visiting Chaffey College, 24-7. The Falcons (8-6, 1-0), winners of three in a row, will travel to Rio Hondo College next Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m. conference match.

In the win, Cerritos turned a 5-2 first period lead into a dominant 13-3 advantage at intermission. Seven different goal scorers got on the board in the eight-goal second period, with Marco Uribe (St. John Bosco HS) accounting for a pair of goals. Another huge third period extended the lead to 20-3, as the Falcons cruised to the win.

On the day, 10 different players scored at least one goal, with the tandem of Guillermo De La Mora (La Serna HS) and Max Lucero (Whittier HS) combining for nine goals, while De La Mora also posted five steals. As a team, Cerritos had 18 steals and assisted on 19 of their 24 goals.

All three goalies saw action, with Aiden Parra (California HS) playing the first half, while Tripp Johnson (Kennedy HS) and Geo Fagiani (Schurr HS) each saw action in one quarter.
