In their first head-to-head match-up with South Coast Conference rival, the Cerritos College men's cross country team showed their experience and depth, as they finished in first place. The Falcons had the top three finishers on the day and compiled 19 team points, with the Mounties in second place with 41 team points. After a week off, the team returns to action when they take part in the Golden West Invitational at Central Park on September 19.

Competing in the four-mile race, the trio of sophomores Joshua Morales (Warren HS), Juan Flores (Warren HS) and Louis Santibanez (Warren HS) pulled away from the remainder of the 93 other runners to secure the top three finishes. Morales, who posted a time of 21:09.3, barely edged Flores, who was clocked in 21:09.9 in a photo finish. Santibanez was a 14 seconds off their pace and turned in a time of 21:23.8. After Mt. SAC had two runners finish the course, the Falcons countered with two of their own to secure their team score and invitational championship.

On the heels of both Mountie runners were freshman Jonathan Morales (Downey HS), who finished in sixth overall with a time of 21:34.7, with sophomore Mikel Bautista (Warren HS) taking seventh place. He cross the finish line in 21:38.9. Cerritos also received outstanding performances from both Nikolas Dominguez (Downey HS) and Alexander Reyes (Downey HS), who both finished in the top 11. Dominguez took 10th place when he was timed in 21:44.5, while Reyes placed 11th overall in a time of 21:47.9.

Also competing on the day for the Falcons were Johan Perez (Downey HS; 22:32.5; 35th place), Aidan Vigil (La Serna HS; 22:40.5; 38th place), Preston Yi (Cerritos HS; 22:49.2; 41st place), Jesse Angel (Warren HS; 22:54.2; 44th place), Brayden Choi (Redlands HS; 23:28.2; 51st place), Dallas Norwood (Palos Verdes Peninsula HS; 23:43.9; 55th place), Axel Rebolledo-Ynostros (California HS; 23:55.9; 58th place), Giovanni Guardado (Warren HS; 23:56.1; 59th place), Daniel Hernandez (Aloha, OR HS; 23:57.2; 61st place), Joshua Chazari (Middle College HS; 24:23.9; 65th place), Mikkelson Reyes (Lakewood HS; 24:35.4; 66th place), Guillermo Ramos (Schurr HS; 25:35.9; 71st place) and Anthony Ruiz (Long Beach Wilson HS; 25:52.6; 75th place).
