As one of only two community college schools competing in the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara University, the Cerritos College men's cross country team came in seventh place out of 18 schools. The Falcons finished with 253 team points while running the 8K course at Baylands Park. The team will take next week to train for the South Coast Conference Championships, which will take place on October 31 at Mt. San Antonio College.
It was a productive day for the Cerritos runners, as the top three finishers recorded the top three times in school history over a 8000 meter course. Joshua Morales (Warren HS) was the first Falcon to cross the finish line, as his time of 24:54.4 placed him 43rd overall on the day, but set a new school record. He broke the old record of 25:15.5, which was set by Munir Kahssay in 2012. Juan Flores (Warren HS) was the next Cerritos runner to complete the course, as his time of 25:02.0 put him in 56th place in the race and is now the second fastest 8000 meter time in school history. Posting the third best time for Cerritos was Axel Rebolledo-Ynostros (California HS), who was 61st on the day with a clocking of 25:07.7.
Of the 180 runners on the day, Louis Santibanez (Warren HS) was the next Falcons runner to finish, as his time of 25:37.2 put him in 86th place, with Mikel Bautista (Warren HS) rounding out the top five runners who comprised the team score, as he finished 112th with a time of 26:02.9.
Also running on the day were Jonathan Morales (Downey HS; 26:15.2; 124th place), Alexander Reyes (Downey HS; 26:24.8; 131st place), Aidan Vigil (La Serna HS; 26:43.9; 144th place) and Nikolas Dominguez (Downey HS; 27:03.6; 157th place).
Cerritos also competed in the overflow race, which took place in the same course, and came in 13th place overall. The top Falcons runner in that race was Johan Perez (Downey HS), whose time of 26:51.7 put him in 72nd place out of 203 runners.
