El Rancho HS: Team won the Del Rio League championship her senior year while she was a CIF qualifier in the 1600 meters (5:19)… Also competed in the 800 meters (2:28)… Finished third in the league championships in the 1600 meters as a senior and sophomore and was voted her team’s Athlete of the Month once as a sophomore… While on the cross country team, she earned the Athlete of the Month award twice, while earning all-league honors three years in a row… Received the Coaches Award as a senior and was their Most Valuable Player as a junior… Named the team’s Most Improved Player as a sophomore…..

Personal: Most memorable moment was when she finished third at the league championships in the 1600 meters her sophomore year and when she came in fourth place in a cross country meet with her best time of 18:34… Would like to transfer to either the University of Pennsylvania or Columbia University and aspires to be a pediatrician… Her father played soccer and was on the track team at El Rancho High… Likes to go running and spend time with family and friends in her spare time… Has two siblings – April (21) and Genelle (14)… Is the daughter of Danilo and Jennifer Melendez… Born in Whittier, CA on January 14, 1993…..
