Falcons Stack Conference Titles and State Marks at SCC Championships

Cerritos College turned in a dominant performance at the South Coast Conference Championships held at El Camino College, capturing multiple individual titles and posting numerous state-qualifying marks in a strong showing across the board.

The Falcons were led by a group of conference champions who set the tone throughout the meet. Mackenzie Monson delivered one of the most impressive performances of the weekend, sweeping the throws with conference titles in the hammer (56.22m), discus (46.05m), and shot put (13.10m), all reaching 3C2A State "A" standards.

On the track, Joshua Morales paced the distance squad with victories in both the 10,000 meters (32:06.63) and 5,000 meters (15:02.77), while Juan Flores captured the 1500-meter title in 3:55.30. Damian Salas added another championship in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.66 meters.

The women's sprint group also made a strong impact, led by Angel Corral, who claimed the 400-meter conference title in 57.06 while also contributing to a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay (3:59.01). Corral added a state-qualifying mark in the 200 meters (25.00) to round out an outstanding meet.

Taylor Kline showcased her versatility by winning the heptathlon with 3,779 points, while also contributing to the championship 4x400 relay team alongside Corral, Deona Standifer, and Jewel Scott. The quartet's time of 3:59.01 met the state "A" standard.

In the field events, Cerritos continued to excel with multiple top finishes and state marks. Miracle Siaosi (hammer, discus, shot put) and Aysia Mallory Felliciano (discus, shot put) each recorded state-qualifying performances, adding valuable depth behind Monson's dominant showing. Ginna Holloway also reached the state standard in the javelin with a throw of 32.36 meters.

The Falcons' depth was evident throughout the meet, particularly in the 400 meters where Corral, Standifer, and Nyla Nolan all posted state "A" marks. The 4x100-meter relay team of Standifer, Corral, Taaliah Stephenson, and Kaliyah Johnson also hit the state standard with a time of 47.95.

Additional strong performances included Sanaa Trotter clearing 1.60 meters in the high jump to meet the state standard, and Esther Gonzalez qualifying in the 10,000 meters with a time of 40:45.64.
