For the first time in the history of the Cerritos College women's cross country program, the Falcons travelled out of state, as they competed in the Commodore Invitational at Vanderbilt University on Saturday. Cerritos was the lone community college of the 23 teams that competed and finished in 13th place with 353 team points. The University of Alabama won the invitational with 45 team points, with Lipscomb (TN) University in second place, followed by Belmont (TN) University in third place. The team will get the next week off and then compete in the SoCal Preview Meet at Guanta Park in Ontario.

The Falcons were able to keep their runners in tight groups, as the first three runners to finish the race were a mere four seconds apart. Freshman Natalie Fyke (Esperanza HS) completed the 5K race in a time of 20:09.90, which put her in 78th place overall out of 194 runners, with sophomore Adriana Raya (Artesia HS) close behind to finish in 79th place in a time of 20:10.40. The third member of that initial group was freshman Giselle Dominguez (Warren HS), who came in 80th place overall in 20:13.30.

Freshman Julia Plecnik (St. Joseph HS) was the 92nd runner to finish the race, as she was clocked in 20:25.80 with freshman Alexis Perez (Cantwell HS) closed out the team scoring by placing 115th overall in a time of 20:54.20. The remainder of the Cerritos runners included sophomores Lauren Thompson (Mayfair HS; 124th place; 21:11.50) and Angela Gonzales (Lakewood HS; 125th place; 21:13.20).
