The Cerritos College women's cross country team opened their 2011 season competing in an invitational that included three four-year school and themselves at the UC San Diego Opener. The Falcons wound up in fourth place with 96 team points, with 15 runners entered in the race. Cerritos will travel to Palomar College on Friday in their next invitational.

Sophomore Adriana Raya (Artesia HS) was the first Falcon runner to cross the finish line, as she posted a time of 16:51.5, good for 23rd overall, while freshman Giselle Dominguez (Warren HS) was close behind in 26th place overall in a time of 17:00.4 The trio of freshmen Natalie Fyke (Esperanza HS) and Julia Plecnik (St. Joseph HS), along with sophomore Lauren Thompson (Mayfair HS) all finished within 21 seconds of each other to round out the team scoring. Fyke was 29th overall in 17:09.0, with Plecnik in 30th overall at 17:16.5 and Thompson posted a time of 17:20.2 to come in 31st place overall.
