Taking on NCAA Division III Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY) on Thursday, the Cerritos College men's tennis team was able to pull out a 5-4 decision. The the win extends the team's streak to seven in a row, as the Falcons (8-1), who will travel to Glendale College for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match on Friday.

Leading, 2-1 in the team score after doubles play, the Falcons continued their momentum with wins in the top half of their singles ladder. Freshman Arthur Toledo (Goliath Academy, FL) earned a 6-2, 6-2 win in the #1 position, while sophomore Bruno Duarte (Centro Educacional Rogêdo, Brazil) came away with a 6-3, 6-3 victory. The two also teamed up for one of the team's two doubles win in the #2 position.

Sophomore Jan Simon (Gymnasium Auf Der Karthause, Germany/Cypress College) easily won his first set in the #3 spot, 6-1, but was in a battle with Andrew Imrie in the second set until he escaped with a 7-6 decision. The Falcons clinched the team win with wins in the top half of the singles ladder. The closet match the team missed out on winning came in the #6 position, with sophomore Tomas Bella (Colegio Mallinckrodt, Argentina/Cypress College) just missing out on extending the match to a tie-breaker, but lost, 3-6, 6-7.
