CERRITOS SUFFERS FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON

With their perfect record on the line in the final regular season game of the year, the Cerritos College women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season, as they dropped a 1-0 non-conference home game against defending state champion San Bernardino Valley College on Friday. The loss probably won't prevent the Falcons (20-1-0) from being the #1-seeded team for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. The teams will be selected and seeded at Fullerton College next Tuesday, with the first round to be played on Saturday, November 19.

Coming onto the game, Cerritos had shut out their last five opponents, but could not get one past Wolverines (13-5-3) goalkeeper Jennifer Keats, although they outshot their opponent, 15-7. The Falcons had several chances to score in both halves, but were turned away and even had two excellent opportunities to score in the final few minutes of the game.

The lone goal came in the 25th minute, as Maddy Horan was able to get a shot past freshman goalkeeper Alexis Carrillo (Bishop Amat HS), who went on to make seven saves on the day. Horan received her pass from Milan Galloway, before chipping the ball into the net for the game's lone goal.
