It was just two seasons ago that Cerritos College running back Rhamondre Stevenson was leading the nation among community colleges in rushing yards when he amassed 2,111 yards in 2018. After a pair of seasons as a feature running back at the University of Oklahoma, Stevenson was drafted in the 4th Round by the New England Patriots at the NFL Draft. He is the second former Falcon to be drafted in the last three seasons, as D.J. Reed was a 5th Round selection by the San Francisco 49'ers in 2018.

Stevenson, who missed the first five games of the 2020 season, led the Sooners (9-2) in carries (101), rushing yards (665) and touchdowns (7), while averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He capped off his collegiate career by being named the Cotton Bowl's Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 186 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown. Also a fine receiver out of the backfield, Stevenson caught 18 passes for 211 yards on the year.

On the national level, Stevenson's single-season total ranks sixth all-time, and was for 11 games, while two of the totals ahead of him were for 12 games. Not only did Stevenson lead the country in rushing, he averaged 9.5 yards per carry and scored 16 touchdowns. On September 29, he scorched Long Beach City College for 339 yards on just 18 carries, which included touchdown runs of 70, 60 and 90 yards. He finished the season with five 200-yard rushing performances and had four games where he averaged over 10 yards per carry for the game.

Using his 6-0, 240-pound frame, Stevenson not only ran through defenders, as well as hurdling them, he also outran them by using his breakaway speed. For his efforts in his sophomore year, Stevenson was named All-American, as well as the National Division Central League Offensive Player of the Year by a unanimous vote. As a freshman with the Falcons, Stevenson finished second on the team with 501 rushing yards, while leading the team with a 7.4 yards average. He also caught five passes for 38 yards and accounted for five total touchdowns.

Rhamondre Stevenson with Oklahoma Stevenson (pictured, right) is considered to be a wrecking ball of a runner who tends to be all fight and no flight between the hash marks. His burly, strong, thick frame and punishing demeanor clearly takes a toll on defenses as the game rolls on. Stevenson has shown to be at his best as a downhill runner, gathering momentum to attack the second level. He's also a solid pass blocker and can be used out of the backfield as a pass-catching threat.

Stevenson will now get a chance to play for the Patriots, who now have six running backs on their roster, including veterans Sony Michel and James White. He is also now the biggest back on the Patriots and will have a real chance to not only make the team, but have an immediate impact.

There are now five former Falcons on NFL rosters - punter Corey Bojorquez (recently signed with Los Angeles Rams), cornerback/punt returner D.J. Reed (Seattle), fullback Elijhaa Penny (NY Giants) and defensive tackle Kyle Peko (Denver Broncos).
