Gahr HS: Voted the Mid-Cities League Defensive Lineman of the Year and 1st Team all-league as a senior… Posted 38 tackles, 4½ tackles for loss and 3½ quarterback sacks on the year… As a junior, he was voted the team’s Athlete of the Year after accounting for 38 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and six sacks on defense, as well as 16 catches for 154 yards on offense… While on the basketball team, he was named 1st Team all-league and the team’s Most Valuable Player his senior year… Was a member of the football, basketball and track and field teams…..

Personal: Most memorable moments were when he had eight tackles and a sack against rival Cerritos High his senior year and when he forced the quarterback to throw an interception to end the game… Would like to transfer to LSU… His dad played football at El Camino College… Hobbies include playing video games… Nicknamed “Meezy” and “Tank”… Has four siblings – Steven (31), Azariah (24), Kayla (21) and Siliana (17)… Is the son of Greg Merchant… Born in Long Beach, CA on July 23, 2006…..
