Facing an opponent who is accustomed to heat and humidity, the Cerritos College women's soccer team was unable to finish off any offensive rushes and ended up dropping a 1-0 decision to visiting College of the Desert on Tuesday. The Roadrunners (1-1-0), whose college is located in Palm Desert, was more suited for the weather, but had as much trouble getting through the Cerritos defense and the Falcons did with Desert.

This weekend, Cerritos (1-2-0) will travel north to take on Sierra College on Friday and then face Cosumnes River College on Sunday. Last season, Sierra was one win away from advancing to the 3C2A State Championships and has started the season 2-0-0. The Falcons have dropped their last two games by 1-0 scores.

In the first half, the Falcons had a goal disallowed due to an offside call, which was their best scoring opportunity of the day. Both teams had five shots on goal, but a perfectly placed direct kick by the Roadrunners Ariana Fuentes from 25 yards out in the 79th minutes provided to be the lone goal of the game.
