Hosting #18-ranked Pasadena City College in their final game before the start of the South Coast Conference Tournament, the Cerritos College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie. The tie secured the #4-seed for the Falcons (5-9-4, 3-2-3), who will host #5-seeded El Camino College at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

The Lancers were awarded a penalty kick in the 12th minute after a tackle in the 18-yard box was ruled a foul. Pasadena City's Alexandra Lopez stepped up and scored to give the Lancers an early 1-0 lead.

Falcons freshman goalkeeper Paulina Prescott (Downey HS) was up to the task at turning the Lancers away the remainder of the game and finished with five saves.

Offensively, Cerritos struggled with their offense for the better part of the first half, but was able to tie the game right before halftime. Sophomore Jenna Santos (St. Joseph HS) sent a corner kick into a crowd of players in front of goalkeeper Gaioi Mahe. The ball came loose in front of the net, with sophomore Sariah Sanchez (La Sierra HS) in the right spot to pounce on the ball and scored her second goal of the season.

In the final seven minutes or so, the Falcons took complete control of the game and had several high percentage scoring chances to win the game. Shots on goal from Santos and sophomore Ariana Rivera (Long Beach Millikan HS) were turned away, while the team also had multiple other chances, but could not get off a shot.
