Former Cerritos College All-State wide receiver Dominique, who spent the last two seasons at Purdue University, has signed a contract with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. Young played for the Falcons from 2013-14 and left as they school's leader in single-season receiving yards. He signed with the Boilermakers and played 1 1/2 seasons, as his senior year was cut short by an injury.
Before he was hurt, Young had 20 receptions for 338 yards and a touchdown and completed his Purdue career with 50 passes for 614 yards and two TDs. He also had a four-yard rushing touchdown during his junior season.
While with the Falcons, Young set new school records with 53 receptions for 939 yards (both since broken) and also added nine touchdown receptions. He had five games with over 100 receiving yards, including a season-high 182 yards on 10 receptions against El Camino College as a sophomore. That single-game reception total was fourth on the school's record list at the time. He was poised to become the first 1,000-yard receiver in school history, but only had 30 receiving yards in the last two games.
Young concluded his Cerritos career with 59 receptions for 1,010 yards and nine scores, while earning 1st Team All-Northern Division honors in 2014. He was voted the team's Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Offensive Player that season
