Baseball: Cerritos adds another signing to list

Cerritos College relief pitcher Jack Kamalski (Edison HS) became the ninth member of the 2024 team to sign with a four-year school, as he inked with Waldorf (IA) University, an NAIA college. Kamalski, who will have three years of playing eligibility, appeared in seven games last season for the Falcons and recorded one save in eight innings. He struck out 13 batters in his eight innings and led the team with a 14.63 strikeouts per nine innings.

In his first appearance with Cerritos, Kamalski tossed a season-high three innings against Los Angeles Pierce College and earned the save while allowing just two hits and struck out four batters. He also tossed shutout innings against both Santa Ana College and Los Angeles Harbor College.

Kamalski will be joining a Warriors team that went 23-28 on the year and reached the championship game of the North Star Athletic Association Baseball Postseason Tournament, where they were defeated by Bellevue (NE) University. They won three elimination games to advance to the finals.

Kamalski joins the other members of the Falcons who are moving on to the next level, which include Calix Armijo (Cal State Northridge), Franky Lopez (Utah Valley University), DJ Massey (Utah Valley University),  Cade Sonoqui (Long Beach Millikan HS), Alonso Reyes (UC Irvine), Anthony Bassett (Faulkner, AL University), Marlon Oviedo (Faulkner, AL University) and Nico Briones (Point Park, PA University).
