Serving as host of the three-team double elimination Super Regional, the Cerritos College baseball team had to wait to find out who their first opponent would be on Thursday at Kincaid Field. After #5-seeded Glendale College opened the day with a 23-7 win over #9-seeded El Camino College, the #4-seeded Falcons were slated to take on their South Coast Conference opponent Warriors. Although they opened an early 2-0 lead, Cerritos went on to drop an 8-5 score. The loss puts them in a must-in game tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. when they face the Vaqueros.

In the bottom of the second inning, freshman first baseman Wyatt Ormonde (Long Beach Millikan HS) and sophomore outfielder Isaiah Rios (St. John Bosco HS) led off with consecutive walks. With one out, freshman third baseman Mateo Heredia (El Segundo HS) hit into a fielder's choice, but on the play, El Camino shortstop Slater Nunes threw the ball away trying to get Ormonde rounding third base. The throw was wild, which allowed Ormonde to score. Sophomore catcher Ryan Reyes (Los Alamitos HS) followed with a stand-up RBI triple to make it a 2-0 game.

After El Camino tied the game in the top of the fourth inning against sophomore starting pitcher Noah Andrunas (Gahr HS/UC Riverside), the Falcons regained the lead in the bottom of the stanza. Sophomore second baseman Dylan Immel (El Segundo HS) led off with a double and scored on a two-out single by sophomore outfielder Evan Saito (Torrance HS). The lead would only last until the sixth inning when El Camino tied the game and then scored three more times on Andrunas (10-1) to open a 6-3 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, freshman designated hitter Brody Cuellar (Bishop Montgomery HS) smashed a two-out solo home run to draw to within 6-4. Sophomore relief pitcher Holden Hungerford (Warren HS/Cal State Los Angeles) came on and allowed single runs in the top of the eighth and ninth innings before freshman outfielder Owen Martin (Narbonne HS) hit his seventh home run of the season to cap off the scoring. Nunes, who came on in relief in the eighth inning, recorded his ninth save of the year.
